It's already July. The clouds of war are looming over the Korean Peninsula, which has been in a precarious state since the South and North Korean "balloon war" began in May. The South Korean Millitary has resumed live-fire artillery drills near the western maritime border, and has also resumed artillery drills near the Military Demarcation Line. Residents along the border are alarmed by the sound of the artillery and fear that this could lead to war. We are gathering again to address the escalating war crisis, to amplify our voices for peace, and to take action.

Will you join us in calling for peace and taking action for peace? 

"All we want is peace!" On June 25, the launching ceremony of the Korea Peace Action was held. From 2020 to 2023, religious groups and South Korean civil society organizations and international partner orgnaizations carried out the Korea Peace Appeal, an international campaign to end the Korean War and sign a peace agreement with one voice, but the situation around the Korean Peninsula has worsen.

The Korea Peace Action will engage in peace actions with 607 religious and civil society organizations in Korea, 80 international partner organizations, and citizens who desire peace in order to advocate for the right to peaceful survival, which has been ignored by the governments of the two Koreas and neighboring countries, which emphasize war, confrontation, retaliation, and retribution, and to make the voice for peace resound louder. Through various peace actions, we will resolve the escalating war crisis and gather voices calling for opposition to war and the realization of peace. 💪

Korea Peace Action submitted the complaints to 🎈the government's online compliant campaign, which ran for a week from Tuesday, June 18 to Monday, June 24. The campaign collected 2,677 signatures from citizens who participated and submitted a complaint to the Ministry of Unification and the National Police Agency as representative applicants. Additionally, approximately 40 participants submitted offline complaints in their individual names to the Ministry of Unification and the National Police Agency. ✍️These individuals urged the authorities to restrict the distribution of anti-North Korea leaflets.

On June 4, the Korea Peace Appeal Campaign received the Late Spring 30th Anniversary Moon Ik Hwan Special Award!

We think it was given to us as a sign that the religious groups and civil society should work harder in unison to raise awareness of the seriousness of the situation on the Korean Peninsula and to resolve the war crisis and establish peace. We will always remember that the world will not get better by itself, that peace will not come unless we speak peace, and that the hope of peace lies in us, not in anyone else, and we will continue to work harder for peace, living up to the name of the 30th Anniversary Special Award.🙂
